The tragic suicide of Robin Williams, 63, came as a shock to most. Williams left behind his three children – Zak, 31, Zleda, 25, and Cody, 23, and third wife, Susan Schneider Williams. As with every estate plan, after the creator dies the beneficiaries receive their portion according to the estate plan.
In this instance, there is a disagreement between the three children and the wife regarding his estate. According to the New York Times, the dispute is over money, property and personal belongings. Robin Williams had a separate trust set up for Susan Schneider Williams, which included their home plus costs associated with the home.
According to the court documents, Susan Schneider Williams requested for “all expenses associated with daily upkeep as well as unexpected renovations and improvements” to be included. The three children responded to the request by stating they were “heartbroken” that Susan Schneider Williams has “acted against this wishes by challenging the plans he so carefully made for his estate.”
This goes to show, even famous families have dispute over estate plans.
